 MDI has traditionally focussed on providing a memorable induction to the new batch. Coupled with the rigorous official schedule including guest speakers, outbound activities, business games and introductory lectures, the student community also actively involves itself in ensuring a remarkable induction schedule for their junior batch. 
The Post Graduate batch of 2010-2012 had their induction week from 20th June to 26th June.
Prof. B A Metri, Dean (Graduate Programmes) welcomed the students on campus followed by Dr. B.S. Sahay, Director, MDI, addressing the fresh batch of students. Dr. Sahay called it a proud moment and in his address promised, “In the two years of your business education you will be given ample scope and plethora of opportunities to nurture talent and hone your skills to become the global citizens of the future.”
Shri Rohtash Mal, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, Escorts, was present as the Chief Guest. In his address to the students Shri Mal said, “Nurture your competencies beyond knowledge. Stress on attitude, passion and collaboration.” Also present on the occasion Shri Soumitra Pandey, Managing Partner, Accenture, in his key note address advised the students to be confident and to learn to handle success. The Chairperson – Student Affairs, Prof. Neelu Bhullar, spoke to the students next. She welcomed them and remarked on the importance of extra-curricular learning through participation in the various activities at MDI. She also extended her support to the students whenever required. Prof. Sumita Rai, Chairperson – Students’ Counselling Cell, introduced her student team next, and expressed hope that the students will approach her if they had any issues. 

Shri Arun Rishi (Swargiya), Founder of Aayushmana Bhav Trust & Research Center, Ujjain,enthusiastically informed the students of health benefits from clapping. Dr. Sudhirendar Sharma, CEO – The Ecological Foundation, and Dr. Kuldeep Rathoo, Editor – D-Sector, brought to light the social aspect of the increasing growth of the economy. The session forced the students to look at the social consequences of any business.

Professor Emeritus Padma Shri Dr. Pritam Singhinteracted with the students and discussed with them his thoughts on leadership.
During the week, the institute arranged various sessions to provide a holistic view of the education the students were up against over the next two years. Various introductory lectures were taken by the faculty of the institute to ensure a foundation before the students began their courses next week. The sessions were on Case Analysis (Dr. Gita Bajaj, Dr. Jaydeep Mukherjee, Prof. J. N. Godinho, and Dr. Avinash Kapoor), Quantitative Methods (Dr. Ashok Panjwani, Dr. S. S. Padhi), Accounting (Dr. Anil Mishra, Dr. S. K. Rai). Prof Ashok Kapoor spoke on the allegory of a lotus and the way one should live life. Mr. D. K. Ahuja introduced the students to Computers and networking facilities on campus, and Dr. Antony Jose clarified how to use the library and the data bases available within the institute.
Various guest speakers graced the occasion with their presence. Shri Vivek Punekar, Vice President (HR), HCL Infosystems talked to the students about how to build successful career paths. He stressed on the long-term aspect of a career, terming it as a marathon, and gave several tips on how to manage the long race. Dr. Shalini Sarin, Country HR Partner & Director (HR), Schneider Electric stressed on the importance of spending these two years not just as students, but as professionals in the making. Shri N Madhavan, Associate Editor, Hindustan Times delivered his fascinating views on the changing perceptions of employee – employer relations in the current industry landscape. Shri Ashutosh Sinha, News Editor, NDTV Profit shared insights on the importance of business relationships for any career and art of sustaining them. Mr. Chris White, CEO, RJ Corp,former MD of Nestlé Rowntree, took a thought provoking session on his life’s journey and experiences that taught him valuable lessons for his life.
The MDI Alumni Committee welcomed the new batch with a session with some of MDI’s most distinguished alumni. Present on the occasion were Smt. Shrutee Wadhwa (Batch 1999-2001; VP Deutche Bank); Shri Rishi Mohindru (Batch 1999-2001; VP Citibank); Shri Bikramjit Singh (Batch 1997-1999; VP Royal Bank of Scotland) and Smt Shweta Handa (2002-2004; CEO Standard Group). Getting nostalgic about the two years they spent at their alma mater, they spoke to the students about the lessons they learnt during their climb up the corporate ladder, and clarified various aspects of a career post an MBA. 
During the induction week, a session was conducted by entrepreneurial ecosystem - a special interest group at MDI. The main speaker - Mr. Sanjeeva Shivesh, Managing Director of Smart Wave Education (which provides corporate training, management education and entrepreneurship development programs) talked about the importance of entrepreneurship and stressed on how starting early and working for your passion can make a difference. Chaitanya Jha, an alumnus of MDI PGPM 2008-2010 batch and a serial entrepreneur with his ventures - Choco Mishtham and Discover Life, also addressed the new batch on his journey in entrepreneurship after MDI.
The rigor of the week came to an end in a very exciting manner & PG10 were truly Mandevians now.
