It was that time of the year when MDI beckoned its Alumni to come back to their Alma Mater for the National Alumni Meet held on February 7, 2009 and rekindle their memories from their heydays at MDI. They responded by attending in good numbers at a very short notice to unfold a wonderful evening brimming with happiness and nostalgia.

 The Meet was organised by the newly constituted Alumni Committee at MDI comprising of members from all the programs conducted at MDI and hence, for the first time in the history of MDI, the focus was on bringing together all the programs by creating a strong, vibrant and homogenous Alumni network.

The red carpet was laid out at the MDI Library Greens and for the first time in MDI history, Alumni from all programs were invited which included PGPM, PGPHR, PGPIM, NMP, EMP, PGD in Public Policy, Energy Management and FPM. It resulted in an attendance of 118 alumni comprising of a mixture from all programs along with their family and friends. Prominent alumni personalities present were:-Sanjay Verma - Cushman & Wakefield - Executive managing Director - South Asia, Australia & New Zealand, Manish Kamra - GE Commercial Finance – Assistant Vice President, Vikas Bajaj - Bajaj Motors Limited - Joint Managing Director, Sunil Kumar - Alcatel-Lucent - General Manager, Y.K.Baweja - Ministry of Home Affairs – Director. The meet was addressed by Prof. C. V. Baxi, Director of MDI and Prof. Manoj Kumar Srivastava, Chairperson, Alumni Affairs

The function started by laying a roadmap of the Alumni activities planned for the forthcoming year by the MDI Alumni Committee comprising of current students from all programs and an update of activities undertaken within the past year, by the General Secretary of Students Council, MDI. This was followed by cultural activities comprising of performances by MDI rock band and dance performances by students, the one worth mentioning was of Daria, a French exchange student performing on Umrao Jaan. It served as a perfect platform for the Alumni to return to their Alma Mater and concluded with dinner. The alumni attending the meet went back with fond memories of the event.
